Pittsburgh wears its rust like old armor. The air is metallic, ripe with rain and memory, and the rivers cut through the city like scars. Factories that haven’t burned coal in decades still smell of it, and between their skeletal frames, something older and hotter than smoke stirs.
For Kimber Faye Hartley, this is supposed to be a beginning. A fresh start, new pack, new city, new life. But change has a taste, bitter and electric. Now, Kimber finds herself in a city ruled by steel and blood, where a wolf either finds her place or finds the strength to change it.
The Battlegrounds of the Pittsburgh Omegaverse
Mark of Scent
The Children of the First Moon, Wolves make up most of the population of this alternate universe world. Their histories tell of ancient wars where wild wolves fought against humans, until the wolves emerged victorious and donned the visages of men and women. Wolves are shapeshifters ruled by instinct, scent, and hierarchy.
Wolf Society is made up of a strict caste system where all wolves, regardless of their gender, are divided into Alphas, Betas, and Omegas. They organize into large Packs led by a single Alpha and their Luna, typically an Omega wolf. These Packs control vast territories, usually within larger cities and rural areas, though a few of the strongest Packs have much further reach. The Packs in turn are made up of smaller family units, an Alpha, their Omega, and their children and close relatives.
Alpha
Alphas rule Wolf society. They lead their families and their Packs, carving out territory in major cities and key rural areas around the world. Primal and domineering, Alphas are the only Wolves capable of mating with Omegas, and so they guard their Claims well.
Beta
Betas are the backbone of Wolf society. Those who excel become the Betas of Pack Alphas. The rest make up everything that makes the world go. While Betas make up the majority of Wolf population, they are sterile, and so cannot lead beyond what their Alpha assigns.
Omega
Born with both Scent and Glamour, Omegas are the embodiment of Divine fertility. Omegas are the only ones who can mate with Alphas and conceive … but they can also mate with Fae. As a result, both factions vie for their affections.
Reflections of Glamour
The Fae
Children of the Veil, Fae are powerful beings ruled by glamour, emotion, and will. Legends say that at the First Rending of the Veil, the Fae emerged with a flood of Glamour so strong that the humans melted away, leading to the victory of the Wolves. Scholars debate the details and veracity of this legend, but its truth does not matter. Wolves and Fae are natural, bitter enemies.
Fae can marry and conceive children with Omegas, though such unions are rare and often forbidden. The children of such unions, called Veilbound, are considered cursed, as they possess both Glamour and Instinct, but cannot shift forms. Wolves tell stories of Fae who instead kidnap unwary Omegas to siphon their Glamour for themselves, and so the Wolves carry out the Fae Hunts to protect them.
Others
Legends speak of other beings, remnants of the first humans who survived the First Rending of the Veil. Some tell stories of refuges who hide within the Reflections. Others speak of grotesque monsters waiting beyond the Veil to strike with vengeance.
Scent & Steel
They hit the Pitt Tunnel, the orange lights flashing past them, and Kimber wondered if Pittsburgh was actually a city. All she’d along 376 were shopping centers, closed warehouses, and homes dotting the tall hills and ridges. Then they emerged from the tunnel. She saw the wide beams of the Fort Pitt Bridge and the city beyond. From here, pointed spires of a building that looked like a glass castle dominated Kimber’s sight.

The City of Bridges, Pittsburgh spans across distinct neighborhoods and steep hills. The Steel Tower looms high in the Pittsburgh skyline while the glass spires of PPG Plaza bring something almost mystical, especially as the sun dips below the ridge and the lights from the buildings and the Three Sisters come to Life.
The Wolves have made this city their own, the wild scent of wolf, steel, and ash blending into power. From the Universities and museums to the music of Heinz Hall, there is no place Pack Claws do not sink in.
Three Rivers Claimed
Three Rivers Claimed is an Omegaverse pentalogy by Holle Dolce & Alpha Mazeira set in an alternate universe Pittsburgh, where Wolves dominate and the Fae fight to maintain their kingdoms in the Reflections. The series of 5 novels follows Kimber Faye Hartley as she struggles to understand her identity, love and mating, and ultimately her destiny. Each novel follows 7 days of Kimber’s life, beginning the first of October and culminating at the end of the Samhain Festival.
